An elegant, violet bitone, ‘Alcazar’ historic tall bearded iris with creamy haft and bronze veined throat was  introduced in the first decade of the 20th century.  Vigorous and fragrant, iris Alcazar has a profuse, long-flowering habit.

One of the first tetraploid hybrid TB, a great advance over other garden irises of the time, the beginning of modern TB irises. When first introduced Alcazar had clearer color, more vigor, more adaptability, better branching, bigger size, better substance, and better disease resistance than its contemporaries, due in no small way to Alcazar’s I. trojana parentage.
